- BlackBox.
-
- The salvage team picked slowley over the remains of the freighter. It was a
- complete mess. The freighter appeared to have been hit by a large meterorite
- which had punctured the hull. The air would have drained quickly. The crew
- were dead, their bodies strewn on the floor in their cabin. There were
- strange lines on the floor, looked like scratches. Perhaps where metal
- objects had scraped, perhaps not. After several hours of trying to find out
- what exactly happened, the BlackBox was recovered from the computer core. The
- team withdrew to their craft and linked it up to the viewer...
-
-
- They came from nowhere.
-
- Out of the black of space, a fleet of strange dark alien ships surrounded the
- lonely freighter. Ships bristling with dark, alien technology. Ships filled
- with dark, alien Aliens. All with their dark, alien weapons, trained on the
- not quite so dark, and not particularaly alien, freighter.
-
- The landing was swift and deadly. A massive claw reached out from one of the
- larger ships, piercing the outer hull of the freighter. Precious air billowed
- out around the claw carrying with it flecks of rubbish which sparkled and
- flickered in the light from a distant sun. With the air draining fast, the
- crew in their semi commatosed state of computer playing didn't manage to make
- it to the escape capsule in time. One by one, they were overcome by lack of
- oxygen and sank slowly into the darkness of the next life.
-
-
- Flashes of light.
-
- A strange yellow creature (carrying a large (dark, alien) gun, slung
- menacingly round its shoulders) materialised amidst a crackling of blue
- electric light. It raised its sun glasses and snarled big, (dark, alien,)
- teath. The area was quickly secured and the rest of the bording party was
- allowed to take the slightly less energy wasting journey to the breach by
- walking down the inside of the claw.
-
- There was a small trumpet fanfare played through a cheep, (dark, alien,)
- loudspeaker which had been hastly bolted to one of the bulkheads.
- Unfortunatly, since all of the air had been drained from the ship, no-one
- heard it. The important-looking (dark, alien) Alien which had followed the
- boarding party down the 'claw' looked puzzeled and then pushed its paw into
- one of its massive ears and wiggled it around a bit trying to see why it
- couldn't hear the fanfare.
-
- The other yellow Aliens waited with a determined look on their faces.
- Admittedly, they did look like big yellow rabbits and they did look kina
- cute, but nun the less... The important looking rabbit barked it's orders.
-
- "Wjook Neepy Ploink"
-
- (Unfortunatly, I don't speak rabbit and so I cannot give you a direct
- translation). And in anycase, none of the rabbits heard it, but since they
- were all brillient lip readers... The Rabbits scurried off, in search of new
- technology: dark, alien technology. After a while, the bodies of the crew
- were found. It was perhaps unfortunate that at the time of their death, the
- crew had been playing Super Foul Egg.
-
- An hour later, the important looking rabbit was starting to get a little
- annoyed. None of her scouts had come back yet. She set off towards the nearby
- cabbin door, which was partly ajar and through which she could see flashes of
- light and the occasional fuz of a rabbit looking, she thought in horror, as
- though it were ENJOYING ITSELF!
-
-
- The viewport flickered with static.
-
- Abord the largest of the dark alien vessels. The high head rabbit wore the
- same worried look that he had perfected a long time ago. The council had
- decided that the reason that the boarding party hadn't reported back must
- have been due to some sort of accident, and that they weren't really prepared
- to go in to find out. An accident. Probabley with some sort of sharp objects.
- Like scissors. Or an Axe. He shuddered. He didn't like sharp objects.
-
-
- As though they were never there.
-
- The dark fleet turned and pulled away from the freighter, and slowly made
- its way toward the outer edge of the cosmos. Many rabbits would be mourned,
- but theirs was a job which only the brave could do. Their names would be
- remembered for ever.
